PMA to host International Grand Medical Conference in Lahore

The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) announced on Saturday that it will host the International Grand Medical Conference 2026 in Lahore from May 15–17, bringing together thousands of medical professionals from across Pakistan and abroad.

Addressing a press conference, PMA leaders said the three-day conference will include senior consultants, professors, hospital administrators, policymakers, and allied health professionals, with representation from all major medical and surgical specialties.

They said it is also expecting participation from international organisations, including the World Medical Association (WMA), the Confederation of Medical Associations in Asia and Oceania (CMAAO), as well as representatives from Central Asian countries, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states.

Organising committee leadership includes Prof Dr Muhammad Ashraf Nizami as conference chairman, Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood Khan as secretary, Prof Dr Muhammad Tanveer Anwar as chairman of the scientific committee, and Dr Riaz Zulqarnain Aslam as chairman of the allied health committee.

National coordination will be led by Dr Abdul Ghafoor Shoro (Secretary General, PMA Centre), while Dr Izhar Ahmed Chaudhry (Central President, PMA) will manage international liaison.

 Provincial coordinators will ensure representation from Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan, the PMA said.

The PMA has also formed an advisory board of prominent medical professionals, including Professor Javed Akram, Professor Aftab Mohsin, Professor Khalid Masood Gondal, Professor Ayaz Mahmood, and others.

The conference will feature workshops, scientific sessions, research presentations, and exhibitions, providing young doctors and students with opportunities for professional development. Parallel sessions will cover human rights, global environmental issues, nursing, paramedical professions, medical journalism, literature, and a book fair.

“The conference aims to position Pakistan as a significant hub on the global medical map and strengthen links between local and international medical communities,” the PMA said.

The press conference was attended by senior PMA office-bearers, including Pro Dr Shahid Malik, Pro Dr Ashraf Nizami, Dr Izhar Ahmed Chaudhry, Dr Kamran Saeed, Dr Wajid Ali, Dr Bushra Haq, Dr Iram Shehzadi, Dr Ahmed Naeem Akhtar, Dr Maryam Fatima and Dr Salman Haider Kazmi, among others.
