Covid-19 claims 54 more lives in Pakistan
The deadly coronavirus claimed another 54 lives during the past 24 hours (Thursday), raising the death toll to 5,763, shows the latest figures released by National Command and Operation Centre on Friday morning.
Most of these deaths were recorded in Sindh where the number of people dying of the coronavirus reached 2,096 after the addition of 31.
On the other hand, the number of deaths in Punjab currently stands at 2,105 followed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 1,169, Islamabad 162, Balochistan 136, Azad Kashmir 49 and Gilgit-Baltistan 46.
As far as the coronavirus cases are concerned, Sindh tops the list with 115,883 people being diagnosed with the infection. The updated data for the other provinces and regions is: Punjab 91,423, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 32,898, Islamabad 14,766, Balochistan 11,523, Azad Kashmir 1,989 and Gilgit-Baltistan 1,918.
Meanwhile, the number of active coronavirus cases has now dropped below 45,000. Out of these 44,854 active cases, 1,316 patients are in a critical condition and being treated in the intensive care units of different hospitals across the country.
This reduction in the active cases came as 219,783 people have so far fully recovered from the infection caused by the coronavirus.
In the meantime, the number of tests administered since the coronavirus pandemic has now increased to 1,821,296 after 22,006 people were tested for the infection during the past 24 hours.
