The Punjab government has decided to launch door-to-door coronavirus vaccination campaign in five districts of the province from Monday (July 26), reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
According to the decision taken at a meeting chaired by Provincial Minister for Health Dr Yasmin Rashid and chief secretary Punjab, the drive will be launched in Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala and Rawalpindi districts.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Yasmin said that the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) had given the Punjab government the target to vaccinate 40 per cent population of over 18 years of age against the pandemic in these districts by August 14. “Similarly, there is a target to immunize 70 per cent population of over 18 years of age in Rawalpindi against the virus by August 14,” she explained.
She directed that drive-through vaccination centres in Lahore be increased.
Urging the people to get themselves vaccinated against Covid-19 and comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs), the minister said these were the only ways through which people could save themselves from the coronavirus.
The chief secretary, on the occasion, ordered the concerned departments to ensure the targets given by the NCOC were met.
