Ashraf Rahi, 50, was on his way when unidentified gunmen sprayed his car with bullets: PCB to boycott courts across Punjab tomorrow

Punjab Bar Council (PBC) Secretary Ashraf Rahi was murdered at Usman Chowk in Badami Bagh area of Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

According to police, 50-year-old Ashraf Rahi was on his way in a car when unidentified suspects shot him dead in Badami Bagh area and fled away.

On information, a heavy police contingent reached the spot.

The deceased had two daughters, and he was a resident of Hanif Park.

The police also took information from the immediate relatives of the deceased whether he had some sort of enmity with anyone.

Meanwhile, Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana sought a report from the City superintendent of police (SP).

He ordered the officer concerned to trace the accused with the help of CCTV cameras and arrest them as early as possible.

He also directed the officer to use all resources for the arrest of the accused.

PCB to boycott courts across Punjab tomorrow

Punjab Bar Council (PBC) announced a province-wide strike on Monday (July 25th) to protest against the killing of PBC secretary Ashraf Rahi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Lawyers’ fraternity would not appear before the courts to register their protest against the gruesome murder.

PCB demanded the Punjab government and Punjab IG form an independent Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe the shooting of their office bearer.     

The council demanded to arrest the target killers and their facilitators at the earliest.

PCB directed its district heads to arrange memorial reference seminars to pray for the departed soul.

PBC vice chairman and PCB chairman executive committee issued a notification in this regard.
