Services Hospital Power Failure: CM Naqvi shows door to MS, Principal

Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi has suspended the Services Institute of Medical Sciences Principal and Services Hospital Medical Superintendent in the light of an inquiry report regarding power failure in the operation theater

On Saturday, doctors at Services Hospital were forced to conduct surgical procedures for patients without electricity after generators stopped working when they run out of diesel.

In a video circulating on social media, doctors in the ENT operation theatre complained about load-shedding and even a lack of electricity supply through generators. Patients were suffering due to extreme heat and muggy weather.

Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi while taking notice of the incident issued an order to make an inquiry into the incident. He constituted a two-member committee headed by the Health Secretary to investigate the incident.

The Health Secretary after conducting the inquiry presented a report to caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi during a meeting, in which Provincial Minister Dr. Javed Akram, Chief Secretary, Health Secretary, and Secretary to CM were also present.

Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, in light of the inquiry committee's recommendations, suspended Services Institute of Medical Sciences Principal Prof Dr. Farooq Afzal and Services Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Dr Ehtisham-ul-Haq for neglecting their duties.

The report says that patients suffered due to the power outage in the ENT operation theatre.
