Aashir Wajahat about controversial videos with Hania Aamir
Emerging Pakistani singer Aashir Wajahat appeared in a podcast session with host Ahmed Ali Butt, where he shared how he carved out his space in the Industry from performing as a child actor in Mai Kukkoo Aur Woh and Karachi Se Lahore, to producing musical hits like Sadqay. He also addressed controversial videos with Hania Aamir.
Emphasizing his passion for acting, he said, “I was born into acting. I really enjoyed my time on set as a kid and learned a lot. If I were given a choice now, I would still choose acting - but maybe start much later in adulthood.”
The host, in the engrossing session, also inquired Wajahat about his relationship with social media, particularly after his recent controversial videos with Hania Aamir that caused heavy backlash for promoting indecency on social media.
“Did that happening make you hold back from social media afterwards?" the host asked.
While responding, Wajahat confessed: “Yes, I think so.”
Adding that after this backlash, he received insightful advice from an actor (whom he did not mention), that if he continued to be seen frequently in the company of other famous personalities, he risked being perceived merely as "a guy in other people’s stories" rather than being recognized for his own talent and capabilities.
He stated that he learned a great deal from his media mishaps, “I realized this is not what I want to be known for. If I am hanging out with my friends then why should that become news? I am still friends with these people, but I don’t publicize it. It can be too much.”
He said that he prioritizes enjoying pleasant moments with friends in private, far from the eye of social media, after that happened.
