Body of retired colonel swept away in River Soan found
The body of Ishaq Qazi, a retired colonel, who, along with his daughter, had been swept away by raging Soan River in Rawalpindi two days ago, was found on Thursday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Sources told the 24News TV channel that the body was found near the river’s bridge.
They informed that the search operation for the deceased’s daughter as well as the car was underway.
On Wednesday, 24News TV channel reported that no clue was found about the father and his daughter, whose vehicle was swept away due to heavy monsoon rains in Islamabad’s DHA Phase 5 on Tuesday.
The digging procedure at the site of the nullah in River Soan continued, but later it was stopped at 3 am due to heavy flow of rainwater in the area.
Rescue personnel and vehicles were present at the site and expanded the scope of their rescue operation on Wednesday morning.
Earlier, the vehicle was caught in a sudden surge of water, leaving father and daughter unable to escape from their car.
Rescue teams were actively searching for the vehicle and its passengers, but no further details on their condition have been confirmed at this time.
