Cracks emerge in PTI legal committee as senior lawyers exit, infighting intensifies

Internal divisions within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s legal committee have come to the surface, as senior members Qazi Anwar and Hamid Khan exited the group amid rising tensions and infighting.

The split has sparked a public war of words, with PTI member Mashaal Khan launching scathing criticism against both the departing lawyers and those still steering the party’s legal strategy — including renowned counsel Salman Akram Raja.

Mashaal questioned why a petition had not yet been filed in the Supreme Court regarding the cases against Bushra Bibi, wife of PTI founder Imran Khan. She also slammed the legal team for allegedly failing to properly utilise the Supreme Court forum on key issues, including the allocation of specific seats.

In a fiery message shared within the PTI legal group, Mashaal accused the party’s legal minds of drawing “heavy fees” while delivering “no tangible results.”

The internal dissent escalated swiftly. Following Mishaal’s critical remarks and direct questioning, Salman Akram Raja reportedly removed her from the legal committee's communication group, further deepening the rift.
