FBR extends sales tax, federal excise return filing date to August 4

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Thursday officially extended the deadline for filing sales tax and federal excise returns for the tax period of June 2025 until August 4, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The extension has been granted under the Sales Tax Act 1990 and the Federal Excise Act 2005.

In a notification, the FBR clarified that while the return filing date has been relaxed, taxpayers are still required to submit their dues by the original deadline, maintaining strict compliance with payment timelines.

The directive has been communicated to all relevant officials, including Chief Commissioners of RTOs, LTOs, MTOs, and CTOs, while the FBR’s web portal, IT wing, and all concerned offices have been updated accordingly.

“The relaxation is limited to filing only — the obligation to pay taxes on time remains intact,” the FBR said, urging businesses and filers not to delay their payments despite the return filing extension.
