Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves dip by $39.6 million amid debt payments: SBP
Pakistan’s total foreign exchange reserves saw a decline of $39.6 million during the business week ending July 18, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) reported on Thursday.
According to the SBP, the country’s overall forex reserves now stand at $19.91 billion. The central bank's own reserves fell by $69 million, settling at $14.45 billion, primarily due to foreign debt repayments amounting to $69 million during the week.
On the other hand, commercial banks’ reserves recorded a modest increase of $29.4 million, bringing their total holdings to $5.46 billion.
The fluctuation reflects ongoing pressure on external accounts amid a delicate economic recovery.
