Punjab govt to buy 400 tabs for lawmakers

Legislation in the Punjab Assembly will now be done on touch screens as Punjab government will purchase 400 tabs for parliamentarians, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday. 

The Parliamentary Affairs Department will purchase 400 tabs worth Rs80 million.

The project also includes an Assembly Resource Center, online training, and AI chatbot. The total cost of the project will be Rs307.3 million.

Under the programme, 42.6 percent of the budget will be spent on hardware alone. AI chatbots will help members in making legislation.

Information related to the law will also be available to the public through AI chatbots. 

Under programme, politicians will be given digital training and online courses.

Secretary Parliamentary Affairs Asif Bilal Lodhi was contacted on the purchase of the tab but he did not gave any position.
