3 extortionists dead in encounter with Rangers, SIU personnel in Karachi
Three extortionists were killed and another was arrested in an injured condition during a joint operation conducted by Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) and the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) in Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
The incident took place in Malir 14 area of Karachi.
According to a Rangers spokesperson, the joint raid was launched following credible intelligence regarding the presence of extortionists in the area.
Upon the arrival of the law enforcement personnel, the suspects opened fire on the Rangers and SIU contingent.
Additional forces were immediately called in to reinforce the perimeter. In the ensuing exchange of fire, three suspects were killed on the spot, while one was apprehended with injuries.
Authorities confirmed that weapons, mobile phones, and a motorcycle were recovered from the scene.
The process of identifying the deceased and the injured suspect is currently underway, and further investigation into the network is ongoing.
In different police encounters in other areas of Karachi, seven accused were arrested in an injured condition.
A fire that erupted in a shop located in a mobile shop in Block No.13 Gulistan-e-Jahar was brought under control.
