AJK govt requests Interior Ministry to provide 16000 security personnel for elections
In order to ensure the peaceful and transparent elections for Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, AJK Government has requested the Federal Ministry of Interior to provide additional police personnel.
In this regard, personnel will be drawn from the police forces of various provinces to maintain law and order during the electoral process. From Punjab a total of 14000 personnel will perform their duties during AJK elections.
Personnel provided by the Punjab Police include 5,000 Punjab Highway Patrol, Riot Management Police 3,000 personnel, Punjab Constabulary 900 personnel and 5,100 personnel from district police.
Moreover, 2,000 personnel of Sindh Police, 500 personnel of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, 200 personnel of Balochistan Police and around 100 cops of Gilgit-Baltistan Police will be sent to Kashir for election.
According to details, this additional force will be deployed at polling stations and sensitive locations, and to maintain the overall law and order situation during the elections. The deployment will be carried out in phases, in accordance with the instructions of the relevant authorities.
