Mira Sethi's witty Wellesley speech resurfaces online
A throwback video of actress, writer and journalist Mira Sethi delivering a commencement speech at her alma mater, Wellesley College has resurfaced online.
In the clip, recorded during a graduation ceremony, Mira candidly recalls that she did not immediately fall in love with college life.
She admits experiencing homesickness and jokes that studying at Wellesley sometimes felt like "marinating in a convent" while students at neighbouring institutions seemed to enjoy a different college experience.
However, she explains that her feelings gradually changed over the years and compared her time at Wellesley to "the love in a successful arranged marriage".
Mira Sethi is born into one of Pakistan's most prominent media families, Mira is the daughter of veteran journalists Najam Sethi and Jugnu Mohsin, while her brother, Ali Sethi, is an internationally acclaimed singer and author.
A graduate of Wellesley College, where she studied English and South Asian Studies, Mira later worked as an assistant books editor at The Wall Street Journal in the United States before returning to Pakistan to pursue a career in acting and writing.
She has earned acclaim for television dramas including Chupke Chupke, Kuch Ankahi, and Love in 7 Days.
In 2021, she also published her celebrated short story collection, Are You Enjoying? that cemented her reputation as a talented writer alongside her acting career.
