Ring Road Police officer arrested for using social media on duty
A Ring Road Police patrolling officer was arrested and booked under Section 155-C for allegedly using Facebook and watching Reels on a mobile phone while on duty, the Ring Road Authority said.
The authority said strict action had been taken against the officer for using social media instead of performing public service and traffic-management responsibilities.
It added that a zero-tolerance policy had been introduced against the unnecessary use of mobile phones during duty hours.
According to the Ring Road Authority, the primary responsibility of officers and officials is to ensure effective traffic management and provide timely assistance to citizens.
The commandant of the Ring Road Police said legal action would be taken without discrimination against any officer found negligent in duty or involved in a breach of discipline.
