Federal Cabinet okays deployment of Army during Muharram

The federal cabinet on Tuesday approved the deployment of the Pakistan Army to maintain law and order situation during the month of Muharram, reported 24NewsHDTV channel.

 After recommendations from the Ministry of Interior, the cabinet granted approval for the deployment of Pakistan Army under Article 245 of the Constitution.

Pakistan Army will be deputed in Islamabad, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit and Baltistan.

Civil armed forces will also perform security duties during the month of Muharram vide Section 4 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Pakistan Army will be deputed for security after consultation with the district administration. The Ministry of Interior will also issue a notification in this regard.

The Ministry of Interior obtained the approval to provide foolproof security during the month of Muharram. It is necessary to mention here that Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi also summoned an important meeting regarding fool-proof security arrangements during the month of Muharram.
