Akbar S Babar asks PM Imran to resign over 11 illegal bank accounts

Calling the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) foreign funding case a ‘mega corruption’ case, Akbar S. Babar, the petitioner in the case, said on Thursday that Prime Minister Imran Khan had lost the moral right to remain in office, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

Speaking to the media, he urged the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hear the case on a daily basis so that truth could be sifted from falsehood.

He said it was unfortunate that the foreign funding case against the PTI was now in into its seventh year. “Had verdict in the case been announced earlier, there would have been no political instability presently being witnessed in the country,” he opined. 

He further said that the ruling party had dissociated itself from those 11 bank accounts, which had been opened illegally by its members namely Asad Qaiser, Shah Farman, Ahsan Rasheed, Mehmoodur Rasheed, Seema Zia, Jahangir Rehman, late Naeemul Haq and Zafarul Haq, and in which Rs23 million had been deposited. 

He asked these people to resign from their posts.  

Babar said that all his allegations against the ruling party had been proved in the scrutiny committee’s report, which took four years to gather the facts. “But the PTI has taken over two and half months in submitting its reply to it,” he added.
