Pakistan's batting coach Mohammad Yousaf Thursday said till the end of fourth day’s play, Pakistani batters played excellent cricket.
Addressing a virtual press conference in Lahore, Yousaf said that tomorrow if the batters continue to play like this, then hopefully, Pakistan will win the match.
Test format is all about playing session to session cricket, said Yousaf.
Yousaf said throughout the series, batters played good cricket, with the exception of one session in Karachi and another yesterday.
Yousaf said that now the situation of the match is quite interesting, both the teams will surely fight hard.
“Australia has taken the bold decision to declare, in response we will try our level best to go for a win”, Yousaf added.
Nowadays, most of the Test matches are producing results, which is quite good for cricket, Yousaf said.
“I was thinking that Australia might take the lead to 380, but they declared on 350, which is quite a brave decision from the Aussies”, Yousaf said.
Yousaf said, “The fifth day will be tough, but as I mentioned earlier, we will go for victory”.
Yousaf said Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc had made excellent use of reverse swing, yesterday.
The basic to thwart the reverse swing is to play for inswing, Yousaf added.
Yousaf said, “In Karachi Test, playing five and a half sessions together was a great achievement of our batters, who repeated the history for the second time after 90 years”. “In the last Test, we intended to win but after the dismissal of Babar Azam, we looked for a draw,” Yousaf added.
Yousaf said the opening batters are playing good cricket, while Azhar Ali and Babar Azam are also in good form.
Yousaf said, “We also have Fawad Alam, who in the past has performed so well.” “We have a full confidence in our boys that they will fight till the very end and try to overpower the Australian bowling attack”, Yousaf added.
Yousaf said it is important for every player to perform, being out of form is part of the game, but Fawad is working very to gain his form. He will definitely find his form back, Yousaf added.
