Interior Minister and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Syed Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday announced a seven-member selection committee, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore, he announced that former cricketers Muhammad Yousaf, Wahab Riaz, Abdur Razzaq and Asad Shafiq were part of the committee while the national cricket team’s head coach and the captain were also included in it.

Speaking on the occasion, Naqvi said that there was no chairman of the committee and all members had the same powers. “The committee will also decide who will be the team’s skipper and coaches,” he informed.

He said he planned to make team Pakistan ‘a dream team’.

However, in the same breath, he made it clear that he did not have a magic wand in his hand. “It will take time to fix the things,” he said.

Naqvi informed that the ICC’s team would soon visit Pakistan to inspect the arrangements being made for the Champions Trophy. “The tournament will be held in Pakistan,” he said, adding, “And we are making preparations for that.”

PCB chairman categorically stated that he would not listen to any person lobbying for the inclusion of any player in the team. “There is no place for the people jumping from the parachute in the Board. Now decisions will be taken on merit,” he added.

Naqvi also announced the restoration of the contract of Haris Rauf.
