Punjab govt mulls extending closure of schools till April 15
Fuel rationing under consideration: Complete ban on non-essential events proposed
The Punjab government has started preparations to deal with energy crisis and the Provincial Energy Department has presented a number of important recommendations in this regard including extending closure of schools, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
According to the recommendations and the proposals, fuel rationing will be done in accordance with the federal model and it has been proposed to introduce coupons or digital system for fair distribution of petrol and diesel.
It has also been recommended to extend closure of educational institutions of Punjab till April 15.
Introduction of hybrid education system in schools across the province has been under consideration.
Strict guidelines for work from home in private institutions was also recommended.
The department proposed to further limit the working hours of markets in Punjab in which a plan to switch off LED billboards and decorative lights is also included and streetlights will run on alternate mode after 10:00 pm.
It was also proposed that there should be complete ban on non-essential events.
To increase orange line train and metro bus services was also recommended.
