Punjab medical students to be vaccinated against coronavirus: Yasmin

Punjab Minister for Health Dr Yasmin Rashid Monday said her government had decided to vaccinate all medical students of the universities and colleges.
According to 24NewsHD TV Channel, she presided over a meeting at the civil secretariat in Lahore to consider a suggestion to vaccinate more vulnerable people of 30 sectors in the province on priority.
In the meeting, all Punjab high-ups including Chief Secretary, Senior Member Board of Revenue, Additional Chief Secretary, Secretary Health, Lahore Commissioner, and some other military and civil officials participated.
Dr Yasmin told the meeting that people of the banks, industries, educational institutes, and other sectors were seriously vulnerable and her government was going to ensure their vaccination to control the epidemic of coronavirus.
She said the vaccination process in Punjab was in full swing and more than 124,000 people have been vaccinated within the last 24 hours. She emphasized implementing the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) set by the government to avoid Covid-19 as carelessness could increase the epidemic.
The meeting also took the notice of the reports of the Special Branch on wedding ceremonies held in some marriage halls in Lahore violating the laws and the Chief Secretary ordered to enforce the ban on events and gatherings till June 01.
It was also informed at the meeting that the rate of positive cases in 11 cities of the province of Punjab was still more than 8 percent.
