Imran denounces crackdown on PTI leaders, activists ahead of march

May 24, 2022 10:47 AM

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has denounced government’s crackdown on his party’s leaders and workers in an apparent attempt by the government to scuttle their long march on Islamabad on May 25 saying that it reveals the ‘fascist’ nature of the PML-N when in power while cautioning that these restrictive measures will further exacerbate the economic situation and push the country into a state of anarchy, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Reacting to the widespread raids by the authorities to arrest the PTI leaders and activists, the former prime minister took to his Twitter handle on Tuesday condemning the undemocratic steps being taken by the authorities to thwart PTI march.

In a series of tweets, Imran wrote: “Peaceful protest is the right of all our citizens. The brutal crackdown on PTI leaders & workers in Punjab & Islamabad has once again shown us what we are familiar with - the fascist nature of PMLN when in power. The present crackdown also raises serious questions about the Handlers.”

“Already economy is in a tailspin. I want to warn the crooks & their handlers that these undemocratic & fascist steps will further exacerbate the economic situation & push the country into a state of anarchy.

“PPP, PMLN and JUI marches against our govt were never stopped nor did we carry out any crackdown on their workers. This is the difference between democrats and kleptocrats.”
