Hyderabad Water Corporation employee protests over 17 months of unpaid salary

A Hyderabad Water and Sewerage Corporation employee staged a protest along with his family outside the Press Club, alleging that he has not been paid his salary for the past 17 months.

The employee, Ishtiaq Ahmed, said he has been facing severe financial and health difficulties due to the prolonged non-payment. He was accompanied by his wife and daughter during the demonstration.

Speaking to reporters, Ishtiaq Ahmed revealed that he is suffering from kidney disease and is currently undergoing treatment on borrowed money. He added that doctors had referred him to Karachi for further medical care, but he is unable to afford the expenses.

He further stated that due to the absence of salary, he has been unable to pay household utility bills, resulting in the disconnection of electricity and gas services at his home.

According to him, multiple applications have already been submitted to the CEO and HR department of the Hyderabad Water and Sewerage Corporation requesting release of his 17 months’ salary, but no action has been taken so far.

Ishtiaq Ahmed warned that if he is deprived of proper medical treatment, the responsibility for any loss of life would lie with the corporation’s administration.

The employee urged authorities to immediately resolve the matter and ensure payment of his pending wages.
