Japan External Trade Organization official meets Punjab minister

Country Director of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Masatomo Ito Naga met with Punjab Minister for Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain on Sunday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Prospects of foreign investment in Punjab were discussed at the meeting. 

Naga said that JETRO was a Japanese government agency, which was working on investment of Japanese companies in Pakistan.

“Our organization is present in Karachi for the past several years and is working with the Sindh government and we are also eager to work with the Punjab government in various fields,” he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Chaudhry Shafay said that the Punjab government was taking steps to promote latest agricultural techniques in the province.

“There is an agreement with China's Huawei Group for the promotion of modern agriculture,” the provincial minister said.

He said that Punjab's Special Economic Zones had world-class industrial infrastructure and investors are getting NOCs for economic activities under one roof in 30 days.

“EV sector Promotion is also the top priority of the Punjab government,” he added.

Chaudhry Shafay said that the government is also introducing a carbon trade policy as Japan specialized in the auto sector and there are opportunities for collaboration and cooperation between Punjab and Japan.

Punjab and Japan can cooperate in energy, auto, modern agriculture, textiles, environment and other sectors, he added.

He said that cooperation agreement will be signed soon between the Punjab Department of Commerce and Industry and the JETRO.

JETRO should play a role in bringing investment from Japanese companies to Punjab, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain said.

Dr. Imran Hashmi, Director of the Punjab Investment Board, and others were also present on the occasion.
