Pakistani showbiz commentator Dr Omer Adil has sparked intense debate online after making sharp remarks about the state of Pakistan’s film industry and taking a direct dig at writer and host Vasay Chaudhry during a recent interview.
While discussing the decline in quality storytelling in Pakistani cinema, Dr Omer Adil claimed that weak scripts remain one of the biggest reasons films continue to struggle at the box office.
According to him, the foundation of any successful film is its story, and without strong writing, no project can survive for long.

During the conversation, he indirectly criticized several established writers before eventually naming Vasay Chaudhry, questioning both his recent work and creative relevance in the industry.
“Tusi aap ghairat kha ke vakhre ho jao,” Dr Omer Adil said in Punjabi, a sharp statement that roughly translates to, “Have some self-respect and step aside yourself.”

The controversial remark quickly grabbed attention online due to its harsh tone and direct criticism of one of Pakistan’s most recognizable entertainment personalities.
Dr Omer Adil further stated that many talented young people in Pakistan are capable of writing excellent scripts, but according to him, such opportunities are not being given to fresh creative minds.

He also mocked one of Vasay Chaudhry’s recent film projects and criticized a particular character from the movie while questioning the overall quality of modern Pakistani film writing.
The commentator argued that some senior writers should now make space for younger storytellers instead of continuing to dominate the industry despite ongoing criticism over weak storytelling and scripts.
