A youngster shot dead a girl and later committed suicide after the latter’s family rejected his proposal for not being a member of the same clan in Muridke – a town and tehsil of Sheikhupura district, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

The incident happened in the Purani Narang Chungi neighbourhood. Afzal, 22, reportedly was in love with one of his neighbours Maleeha, 17, for the last four years.

Some days back, he formally proposed her through some channel but the girl’s family refused to accept it with the objection that they could not do so because he did not belong to their clan.

The denial infuriated Afzal who fired multiple shots at Maleeha who was standing outside her house. She was pronounced dead at the spot. Later, he also committed suicide.
