The government has failed to provide relief to people despite a 17 per cent decrease in the cost of fuel used in power generation in Pakistan this year.
According to a report, generation of hydropower and coal power has increased in the country this year compared to oil and gas-based power generation.
However, instead of giving relief to the masses in power tariff, the government increased the power tariff consistently in the name of fuel adjustment and made billions of rupees from power consumers.
From January to September this year, the average cost of fuel used in power generation has been Rs4.44 per unit, while in 2019 the average cost of fuel used in power generation has been Rs5.33 per unit.
In September this year, the cost of fuel used in power generation decreased by 39 per cent due to an increase in the use of RLNG in power generation.
On average, around 98 billion units of power were generated in the country from January to September this year. And this power generation is 1.6 per cent less than the power that was generated last year.
