IHC CJ remarks looks like prisoners being tortured in jail
Appreciates Human Rights Commission report on jail inmates: Orders establishment of complaint cell in Adiala Jail
Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Athar Minallah has remarked that it seems obvious by seeing the report compiled by the Human Rights Commission that prisoners are being subjected to torture in jails, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
IHC CJ Minallah on Monday heard a petition against torture on prisoners in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi.
During the hearing, the judge appreciated the human rights commission’s report about the treatment meted out to the prisoners in Adiala Jail. He said it seemed that the ‘jail facility has turned into a detention centre where prisoners are being subjected to torture’.
The chief justice ordered to establish a complaint cell at Adiala Jail. He also directed the jail authorities not to take any action against jail inmates for providing information.
