Punjab Police have decided to procure modern equipment- paintballs to enhance the capacity of the Anti-Riot Force, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Amid tear gas, rubber bullets, and stun grenades, police are turning to a lesser-known crowd control agent, paintballs.
Paintball guns compress air to fire small spheres that on impact, dispense liquid paint or an irritant powder. It is believed that paintballs are safe for crowd dispersal. The use of paintballs facilitates the identification of angry protesters. It will be easy to catch protesters with paintballs. The police authorities say that the method of dealing with the protestors will be adopted like in developed countries.
Demonstrators inciting and vandalizing the crowd will be highlighted by using paintballs. Thus, the police have decided to adopt a new method to identify and arrest angry demonstrators. In this regard, one hundred thousand paintballs will be purchased for the Punjab Police including Lahore. The price of one paintball is said Rs 300 while fifty thousand paintballs will be handed over to Lahore Police. The finance department has already released funds in this regard.
