Court freezes Aleema Khan’s assets, orders confiscation of guarantor's property

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi has ordered the confiscation of former Prime Minister Imran Khan's sister, Aleema Khan’s, national identity card and passport, and directed authorities to freeze her bank accounts in connection with the November 26 protest case.

According to 24NewsHD TV channel, the court also ordered the seizure of the property belonging to her guarantor, Umer Sharif.

The hearing of the November 26 protest case was conducted on Friday by ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah.

The court issued directions to the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and the Immigration and Passport Department to enforce the orders.

During the proceedings, the ATC Rawalpindi heard the case against Aleema Khan and 10 other accused individuals involved in the protest.

However, despite non-bailable arrest warrants being issued, Aleema Khan did not appear before the court. No lawyer appeared on her behalf either.

Due to her continued absence, the court ordered the confiscation of her CNIC and passport and directed the freezing of all her bank accounts.

Instructions were also sent to NADRA and the Immigration and Passport Department to take immediate action in this regard.

The court further ordered that the property of her guarantor, Umer Sharif, be seized.

In its written order, the court observed that “the accused is seen everywhere but does not appear before the court.”

Special Prosecutor Zaheer Shah was present during the hearing, while all ten other co-accused appeared in court along with prosecution witnesses and case material.

Later, the court adjourned the hearing of the case until October 27.
