The woman, who had fallen victim to an acid attack in Karachi’s Gulistan-i-Johar area on Friday morning, said her former husband along with two of his accomplices did the act, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In her statement, which she gave to the Sharae Faisal police at the hospital where she was taken following the attack, Sara said she had married Malik Sabir nine years ago. “I got separated from him a year back, and then applied for ‘Khula’ (divorce),” she said, adding today (Friday) Sabir and his two friends intercepted her near Kamran Chowrangi while she was going for a work and threw acid at her. “Later, all three of them managed to flee from the spot,” she explained.
Police told media that although Sara remained largely unhurt, but still her hands and back were completely burnt in the attack.
The Force further said that a team had been dispatched to take Sabir, her former husband, into custody.
It said investigation into the incident was underway as its contingent had reached the site to collect evidences. “We are trying to identify all the three culprits with the help of footages obtained from CCTV cameras installed in the area,” a policeman said.
