September 24, 2022 11:04 PM

Pakistani celebrities and social media activists took to Twitter to call for #JusticeForSarah and express their anger in the aftermath of the brutal murder of Sarah Inam, the daughter-in-law of famous journalist Ayaz Amir.

The development comes a day after capital police detained Ayaz Amir’s son, Shahnawaz, for killing his wife Sara Inam, who was found dead at a residence in Islamabad.

The shocking incident occurred at a farmhouse located in Shahzad Town where Shahnawaz lived along with his family. Meanwhile, several celebrities and activists used the hashtag #JusticeForSarah to share a tweet, uttering dismay and registering their protest online.

Journalist Mehar Bokhari wrote: “I went to college with Sarah Inam in Canada. The sweetest, kindest soul. Soft spoken, brilliant, majoring in Economics. This was her first marriage.  She had worked at the best places, traveled the world & now wanted to settle down, build a strong healthy home.”

“We are all shell shocked. She couldn’t hurt a fly, let alone attacking a fully grown man. Whatever is alleged now, fact is, there is an immunity with which men operate here, to murder your wife in cold blood in her own home, can NOT should NOT go unpunished,” she added.

Bokhari further added: “Sarah has no family here & it seems highly connected background of her husband is influencing many to remain silent. A young, educated, girl w a strong career murdered in her own home, without a second thought! This could be any of us or our daughters.”
