PPP, TLP and Independents share seats in Hyderabad by-elections

The unofficial and final results of the by-elections on six local bodies vacant seats in Hyderabad have been announced, with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) and independent candidates each securing two seats, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Wednesday.

The by-polls were held for the positions of one chairman, one vice-chairman and four general ward members across different union councils. A total of 18 polling stations were set up for the elections.

According to the results, PPP’s Ghulam Murtaza Shoro won the chairman seat in UC-94 with 2,485 votes, while independent candidate Qazi Khalil Ahmed clinched the vice-chairman post in UC-106 with 554 votes.

In ward-level contests, TLP’s Mahfouz secured Ward 2 of UC-50 with 120 votes, and Muhammad Saleem of TLP won Ward 3 of UC-106 with 211 votes. Meanwhile, PPP’s Khadim Hussain triumphed in Ward 1 of UC-39 with 279 votes, and independent candidate Mubashir Jafri won Ward 4 of UC-112 with 360 votes.

The seats had fallen vacant earlier due to the deaths of elected representatives and other reasons.
