FIA fails to meet deadline on sugar scandal

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) commission probing the sugar scandal has failed to complete its report in the stipulated time to nominate those involved in the scam, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday, quoting sources.
FIA Director General Wajid Zia called on Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday after which the FIA has been given an additional deadline of another two weeks.
The sources have quoted DG FIA as saying that the delay was caused partly by the lack of cooperation by the sugar mill owners and partly due to the coronavirus. In addition, a majority of the sugar mills still maintain manual records, he added.
The FIA was given the deadline of April 25 to submit a report in the sugar scandal.
