Nine cousins, nine weddings: Shujaabad ceremony wins hearts

Nine young men from the same extended family were married to their nine cousins in a joint wedding ceremony held in Shujaabad, drawing widespread attention on social media, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday.

The event was conducted with what organisers described as adherence to religious traditions and deliberate simplicity, with the families of grooms reportedly refusing to accept dowry.

The grooms, identified as Muhammad Kashif, Muhammad Asim, Muhammad Ameen, Muhammad Naeem, Muhammad Naveed, Muhammad Rashid, Muhammad Bilal, Muhammad Shahbaz, and Muhammad Ali, collectively decided after mutual consultation not to place any financial burden on the brides’ families.

The ceremony included nine simultaneous weddings followed by a single collective reception held on the same day, a format that drew large crowds of relatives and guests.

Witnesses described scenes of celebration mixed with emotional moments, as the scale of the joint ceremony attracted attention from attendees and onlookers alike.

Family members said the aim was not to set a record, but to demonstrate that weddings can be conducted without excessive financial pressure.

“We wanted to show that if marriage ceremonies are simplified, no daughter will remain unmarried due to financial constraints,” relatives of the couples said.

The event quickly went viral on social media, where users praised the grooms for their decision, with many describing them as “heroes” for challenging costly wedding traditions.
