South African fast bowler Lungi Ngidi suffered an injury during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match on Saturday after being struck on the head while fielding, prompting an immediate medical response and a temporary suspension of play.

According to officials, Ngidi appeared to be in significant discomfort after the impact, with medical staff rushing onto the field to administer first aid. He was later taken off the ground in an ambulance for further evaluation.

However, hospital sources said Ngidi is stable and due to be discharged from the facility shortly.

In the third over of Punjab Kings' innings, bowled by Axar Patel, Delhi Capitals (DC) fast bowler Lungi Ngidi went for a catch off a lofted shot from Priyansh Arya.

He tracked the ball while back-pedalling but never seemed in control of the attempt, stretching backwards without getting a fingertip to it.
