Categorically rejecting the allegation that Pakistan had a role in the Taliban takeover of Kabul, Minister for Interior Sheikh Rasheed said on Wednesday that the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) would not be allowed to carry out terrorist activities in the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Talking to the media in Islamabad, he said he had listened to the interviews of Taliban spokesmen Suhail Shaheen and Zabiullah Mujahid, and it was heartening that they had assured Pakistan that the new government would not allow TTP to launch attacks on Pakistan from Afghanistan.

India had suffered a humiliating defeat in Afghanistan as all its investment in different sectors and efforts to destabilise Pakistan from the Afghan soil had gone waste with the Taliban coming to power. India was conspiring against the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as all its diplomatic missions in the country were busy plotting against Pakistan. “That’s why, India is in a state of mourning these days,” he commented.

He informed that Prime Minister Imran Khan would address the nation on the situation in Afghanistan in the next few days. “Security of the capital Islamabad is of prime concern for which we have purchased eight drones. Apart from that 1,192 cameras will be installed in different parts of the capital to keep an eye on miscreants,” he told the media.

Rasheed said that the government would provide security to all Chinese nationals working on the CPEC.

He dispelled the impression that Taliban were involved in the killings of civilians in Afghanistan, saying the de facto rulers of the neighbouring country had granted amnesty to all and sundry.

The minister said that Pakistan had to pay heavy price for being ally of the USA in the Afghan conflict.

He advised the opposition to start making preparations for the next general elections rather than wasting their energies on holding public gatherings and taking out rallies.
