Good news for the power consumers as compared with June 2022 not only the power generation increased in the succeeding month of July but its cost also came down, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

Citing figures from a research report compiled by Top Line Securities, 24News TV channel reported that the electricity production not only increased by 10 percent in July but its per unit cost also dropped by 27 percent.

The report disclosed that in July the production cost of per unit electricity dropped from Rs14.70 to Rs10.70.

It was further revealed that an important reason for drop in the production cost was 11 per cent increase in the electricity generation from hydel power.

According to experts, the capacity to generate electricity from hydel power increased due to increase in water resources in the energy mix.

They further said that the power rates would come down in the next few months.
