75 PTI leaders, workers jailed for attacking Rana Sanaullah’s house
Faisalabad court award 10-year prison sentences to 59 leaders and activists inncluding Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz, Zartaj Gul, MPA Ismail Saila: 34 accused including Fawad Chaudhry, Zain Qureshi acquitted
An anti-terrorism court in Faisalabad has announced a verdict in a May 9 case relating to the attack on PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah’s house, sentencing 75 PTI leaders and workers to different jail terms while acquitting 34 accused, including Fawad Chaudhry and Zain Qureshi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
PTI senior leaders Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz, Zartaj Gul, and MPA Ismail Saila were among 59 leaders and activists who were sent to jail for 10 years each.
While pronouncing the decision on Monday, the court also awarded a three-year prison sentence each to 16 other accused.
PTI's former legislators and prominent leaders like Ashraf Sohna, Rai Hassan Nawaz, Kanwal Shozab, Ahmed Chatha, Sheikh Rashid Shafiq, Murtaza Iqbal, Ansar Iqbal, Bilal Ijaz, Mehr Javed, Shakeel Niazi, Farah Agha, Sheikh Rashid Javed, Mian Jawad, Abdul Rehman, and Zeeshan Hassan are among those who were sentenced to 10 years in prison each.
The anti-terrorism court also sentenced MPA Sheikh Shahid Javed to 3 years in prison.
In February 2024, a case was registered against 37 accused for attacking the camp of former interior minister Rana Sanaullah in the Samanabad area.
According to the FIR, the incident took place on February 9, when a rickshaw driver turned on music on a loudspeaker in front of the camp.
The camp caretaker, Irfan, tried to stop the rickshaw from parking in front of the camp. Upon this, a man, identified as Sajid, and his 36 accomplices entered the camp.
The accused vandalised the camp and broke the valuables with sticks. They also threatened Irfan and his staff and fled from the scene.
The police registered a case against the accused under various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code and are conducting raids to arrest them.
