CM Maryam orders urgent evacuation, relief measures amid looming flood threat

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed authorities to ensure the timely evacuation of residents stranded in areas threatened by incoming flood torrents, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Monday.

The Chief Minister emphasised that all available resources must be utilised to prevent loss of life, urging immediate relocation of people living near rivers and in low-lying regions to safer locations.

She also stressed the need for swift measures to safeguard livestock in rural flood-affected districts.

Maryam Nawaz instructed officials to closely monitor the situation of the Sutlej and other rivers, while ensuring proper arrangements for shelter, food, and medical care for displaced families. She specifically ordered the provision of snakebite vaccines in flood-hit zones.

Directing the district administration, Rescue-1122, and other relevant departments in Kasur, Pakpattan, Taunsa Sharif, and adjoining areas to remain on high alert, the Chief Minister warned that negligence in relief and rescue operations would not be tolerated.
