PTA restores 86pc telecom towers in flood-hit areas of KP

Under the supervision of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman Major-General ® Hafeezur Rehman, the PTA has swiftly restored 86% of telecom towers in flood-affected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa within just 48 hours, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

Following the recent devastating floods that disrupted lives and damaged infrastructure across the province, telecom connectivity was severely impacted, leaving many residents unable to reach their loved ones or access emergency services.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, PTA, in collaboration with telecom operators, mobilized its resources immediately to restore connectivity at the earliest possible time.

According to official updates, most of the affected towers were repaired and brought back online within two days, enabling smooth mobile and internet services in flood-stricken districts. The rapid restoration reflects PTA’s commitment to maintaining uninterrupted connectivity for telecom users, even in the face of natural disasters.

In addition to restoring telecom towers, PTA has also been monitoring the quality of service to ensure that users receive stable and reliable coverage. Emergency teams remain on high alert to address any further disruptions caused by floods or weather conditions.

The swift response was appreciated by the residents, as restored mobile services have provided much-needed relief to the people of Swat, Buner, and Shangla and a sense of security to thousands of families across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. 

After receiving directives from PTA Chairman Major-General ® Hafeezur Rehman, a team of PTA held meetings with the Federal Minister Amir Muqam and PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali and briefed them about the restoration of services.

The PTA team vowed that they will continue to work for the welfare of the people of flood-affected areas.

It is necessary to mention here that after instructions from PTA Chairman Major-General ® Hafeezur Rehman, a team of PTA was already present in the affected areas.
