The parliamentary party of joint opposition on Tuesday said it would use constitutional, legal, parliamentary and democratic means to do away with the legislation against the constitution, reported 24News TV channel.

In a meeting held at the Parliament House, it also decided to raise voice in the parliament on matters such as the restoration of law and order, inflation, financial crisis, foreign policy, provincial rights and implementation of court verdicts.

It was agreed at the meeting that a coordination mechanism would be devised to ensure contacts and consultations between the opposition parties so that they could together chalk out a strategy.

It was decided that all opposition parties would have the same opinion on all matters of national interest.

The meeting discussed moving a resolution in the parliament in order to ensure implementation of the Supreme Court (SC) verdicts.

The joint opposition said that its struggle would not remain confined to parliament alone since it would also make masses part of it by launching a peaceful political struggle.

Important demands put forward by the opposition were:

All political detainees, including former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, must be released in light of relevant laws and the constitution.

Cases registered against political opponents must be withdrawn and witch-hunt of political workers must be stopped.

Supremacy of the constitution and the parliament and rule of law must be ensured.

All such legislation should be repealed which adversely affect constitutional principles, independence of judiciary and balance of power between executive, judiciary and parliament.

Court decisions must be respected and implemented.

A comprehensive and consistent strategy should be chalked out for the restoration of law and order in KP and Balochistan.

Trade with Afghanistan and Central Asian states should be restored.

Effective steps should be taken for the elimination of inflation, joblessness and economic crisis.

Right of provinces over their natural resources must be protected.

Time is not ripe for the creation of new provinces, and that a national consensus should be developed on the subject by taking all political parties and other stakeholders on board.

The parliament should be taken into confidence on matters concerning national security, foreign policy, economy and constitution.

Members of the opposition should be allowed to play their constitutional role in the parliament.

A parliament, a true representative of masses, should come into being after free and fair elections.

Meaningful dialogue should be held with the Kashmiri leadership and political and peaceful solution should be find to the issue.
