Rudimentary reforms in social welfare dept need of hour: Mahmood Khan

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has termed rudimentary reforms in social welfare department mandatory to
streamline its activities to improve its overall performance.
Presiding over a meeting in Peshawar on Friday, he said that all the shelter homes across the province should be operationalized with the availability of
all the basic facilities.
Mahmood Khan said that the establishment of Shelter Homes is a pro-poor initiative of Prime Minister Imran Khan for the protection of the
marginalized and vulnerable segment of society.
The meeting was informed that thirty one shelter homes have been established while eight more shelter homes will be set up in the province on permanent
basis for which an agreement have been signed with Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal.
Mahmood Khan directed the social welfare department to devise a transparent mechanism for distribution of Zakat funds amongst deserving people.
