Motorways closed after fog again descends on Punjab
Different sections of the motorway were closed for traffic on Thursday as different parts of the Punjab were again blanketed by dense fog, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
M-11, a section of the motorway, connecting Lahore to Sialkot, M-4, connecting Khanewal to Multan, and M-5, Rahim Yar Khan to Rohri, were closed for traffic after fog considerably reduced visibility.
On the other hand, spokesman for the Motorway Police said that the purpose of closing motorways was to protect the lives and properties of the road users.
He advised motorists to firs avoid travelling unnecessarily, and travel only when it was necessary. “Travel during the daytime. “Travelling between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM is the safest,” he added.
He also said that the violation of lanes during fog could be hazardous; so, therefore, motorists should drive in their lanes.
The spokesman urged road users to turn the fog lights of their vehicles on while driving and drive slowly. “Keep distance from the vehicles,” he said, adding, “In case of an emergency, dial helpline number 130.”
