The Islamabad High Court has granted bail to senior PML-N leaders Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Ahsan Iqbal.

Chief Justice Athar Minallah rejecting NAB’s objections ruled on Tuesday that the Bureau cannot degrade citizens by unnecessarily arresting them. “The NAB can continue its investigation even without arresting the person,” he added.

The court said the passports of both the PML-N leaders will stay with the NAB officials.

Khaqan Abbasi and Ahsan Iqbal were asked to submit security bonds of Rs10 million each.

Khaqan Abbasi was granted bail in LNG reference case while Ahsan Iqbal got bail in Narowal Sports City Complex project.

Meanwhile, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to challenge the bails to PML-N senior leaders Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Ahsan Iqbal.

The decision was taken at a meeting held at NAB Headquarters in Islamabad on Tuesday, chaired by Bureau chief Justice (r) Javed Iqbal.
