The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has reserved its verdict in NA-75 Daska by-election rigging case and will announce it today (Thursday) at 3:00 pm, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had complained to the ECP that the government had tried to rig by-election in the constituency.
Today, the ECP will decide whether to hold re-election in the entire constituency or at some selected polling stations or simply announce the result.
Government official Usman Dar told newsmen that the PTI will accept what the ECP will decide.
Earlier on Thursday, PML-N candidate in the constituency Nosheen Iftikhar, in her affidavit and written reply submitted to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in connection with alleged irregularities in the by-election of NA-75 Daska, had said that police officer Zulfiqar Virk was not relieved of his security duties despite the ECP orders.
She said that the disappearance of 20 presiding officers was a shameful incident.
She demanded that all those government officials who were ‘involved’ in electoral fraud not only be removed from their posts but also given exemplary punishment so that this could act as a deterrent in the future and the ECP could enforce its writ.
