Sindh govt to provide free electric motorcycles to women
Sindh Government has decided to provide free electric motorcycles to women in a bid to ease their transportation during professional duties.
The Department of Transport, Government of Sindh, will distribute 1,200 electric motorcycles annually, with 100 women receiving them every month.
In a bid to enhance mobility and support women’s participation in the workforce, the department has sought Rs300million for the Electric Vehicle (EV) motorcycle scheme.
According to the Transport Department, the motorcycles will be allocated to women through a lucky draw system.
The approval of this EV motorcycle scheme is set to be included in the agenda of the Sindh Cabinet meeting scheduled for February 27. The meeting will also approve the required Rs30million for the scheme.
Sources said that EV motorcycles will be given through ballotting and it is included in the agenda of next Sindh cabinet meeting.
Sindh cabinet will also fix sugarcane prices and a decision will be made to purchase wheat in the province and fix its prices.
A decision will also be made to remove spoiled wheat lying in the province.
In the cabinet meeting, Dow Medical Life Foundation will be approved and amendment to Sindh Fisheries Law will be approved
The new Fisheries Law will be passed by Sindh Assembly.
Approval of appointment of Chief Executive of Sindh People's Housing Scheme will also be approved.
Karachi Water and Sewerage Services Project will be considered in the cabinet meeting.
