Urwa Hocane calls out Fahad Mustafa over age-shaming remarks
Renowned Pakistani actress Urwa Hocane has criticised Fahad Mustafa over his remarks about veteran actress Atiqa Odho, calling them disrespectful and raising concerns about age-shaming in the entertainment industry.
In her Instagram story, Urwa expressed disappointment, writing that she was “saddened to see Fahad Mustafa, who is celebrated in the industry, disrespect Atiqa Odho like that a woman of her caliber and talent.”
She added that Humayun Saeed appeared to have been unfairly dragged into the situation due to the host’s behaviour.
Urwa emphasised that public figures must show humility and respect, especially on influential platforms, noting: “One must apologise considering how important the platform is nothing is forever.”
She also criticised the sarcastic use of the term “Aapa” (used for elder sisters) toward someone ten years older, calling it a form of age-shaming and urging respect for senior colleagues.
The controversy began after veteran actress Atiqa Odho suggested in a recent interview that Fahad Mustafa should consider working with girls of his own age, I mean women.
Responding during a segment of his game show Jeeto Pakistan, where Humayun Saeed was present as a guest, Fahad reportedly said:“Atiqa Apa, aap do char aur surgeries karwa len, hum aap ke sath hero aa jaye gaye.”
The remark implied that "Now I will only work with you Atiqa Apa, you’ll be my heroine. Get two to four more surgeries and then I’ll happily play the hero with you.
