Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Tuesday that Imran Khan who had promised to build homes for the poor after becoming the prime minister had only got his Bani Gala residence regularized instead, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a function at Larkana, Bilawal said Imran who regularized his Bani Gala house acted as a mute spectator to the demolition of scores of homes of ordinary people in the country in the name of anti-encroachment operations. “Could not he get other people’s homes regularized just like he did his own?” he questioned.

The PPP chairman said he felt pained when he saw people being deprived of their homes. “There was a time when I had the feeling that the entire state was bent upon snatching shelter from heads of the poor,” he added.

Bilawal said he felt sad when he heard that the structures built on the sides of Gujjar Nullah in Karachi could not be regularized but those built in Bani Gala and Bahria Town were regularized without creating any fuss.

“So endeared is a common man to us that the PPP governments in the past have even regularized katchi abadis,” he said, and added, “If we read the constitution, it becomes evident that the country belongs to the masses.”
