Legendary English footballer Michael Owen on Tuesday met with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Taking it on Twitter, the Directorate General of Inter Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) said that COAS thanked the former English footballer for visiting Pakistan and promoting sports, football in particular.

Speaking on the occasion, COAS said, "Sports promote peace and this initiative is a welcoming step to promote young talent in Pakistan and develop football infrastructure."

It is relevant to mention that the former footballer had arrived in Islamabad on a three-day visit.

As per the schedule, he will brief the premier Imran Khan on the roadmap for the development of football in Pakistan.
